Overview

松板 Kanpeki Teppanyaki & Seafood Bar in Richmond, BC offers a refined take on teppanyaki dining, blending the art of live cooking with fresh, premium seafood and top-tier Wagyu beef. Nestled at 8351 Alexandra Rd, it serves as a destination for those seeking a sophisticated yet approachable culinary experience centered around Japanese flavors.

The highlight of Kanpeki lies in its thoughtful menu selections. Signature dishes like raw oysters and the Alaskan King Crab deliver the ocean’s richness with pristine freshness. Wagyu features prominently, including Japanese A5 grade cuts and specialty rolls such as 和牛扒菜卷, elevating the meal with buttery texture and intense marbling. The seafood medley—encompassing scallops, cod, lobster tails, and clams—is cooked with care, accompanied by comforting sides like miso soup and fried rice with flying fish roe, creating a well-rounded dining experience.

The teppanyaki itself leans toward subtlety over spectacle. While it may not rival the theatrical flair found in some resorts, the chefs at Kanpeki exude professionalism and attentiveness, providing an engaging, personal touch. The service is consistently praised for being attentive and warm, ensuring guests feel well cared for throughout the meal. This focus on quality service complements the food, making Kanpeki an excellent setting for intimate dinners and celebratory gatherings alike.

The atmosphere is relaxed yet slightly busy, with occasional background noise that adds to the casual vibe rather than detracts from it. The space caters well to families, groups, and special occasions, with VIP rooms available for larger parties. While the dining area retains a straightforward setup, the experience is enhanced by the communal nature of teppanyaki, bringing people together over shared plates and live cooking.

Kanpeki is ideal for diners who appreciate premium ingredients served with authentic Japanese techniques but prefer a more understated, genuine style of teppanyaki. Those who favor exceptional Wagyu or crave fresh seafood in a calm environment will find much to enjoy here. With the combination of quality ingredients, respectful hospitality, and a balanced menu, 松板 Kanpeki Teppanyaki & Seafood Bar stands out as a refined yet accessible choice in the Richmond culinary scene.

Very good Tapenaka. Had the combo for two. Scallops, cod, lobster tails, rib eye steak lamb. Served with fried rice, mixed vegetables and noodles. Mango pudding and Vanilla ice cream for dessert. The only thing not to my taste was the fried rice. $205 before tip. Nice change of pace. Very filling meal for two.

The food was incredible and Mickey was amazing! The price you are paying is worth it. This was my first experience in a teppanyaki and again, thanks to Mickey for being so polite and an excellent chef. The staff was really busy but the whole time I was there they were so attentive and even gave me recommendations about what to order. I will definitely be back!

Quality of the food I think was fair but when cooked all the food was rather salty. I should have asked the chef to take it easy on the seasoning. Watching the chef cook wasn’t that exciting. With the karaoke going on beside us the atmosphere was okay. Also be prepared to smell like food after eating here. The service was good, the staff is friendly and attentive to filling our tea cups and giving us fresh plates when it was filled with shells and all. I got the seafood medley.

KANPEKI TEPPANYAKI & SEAFOOD BAR 8.7 Overall 8.8 Food Quality 9.8 Service 7.5 Dining Atmosphere 7.9 Value Overall it was pretty good! It’s not as entertaining as the ones they do in Mexican resorts, but the service was top notch! They constantly were asking if we needed anything, always clearing our plates, excellent customer service! The food quality was overall pretty good. The sauces were just ok though. Would have preferred if they had some more soy / teriyaki style sauces available. In terms of price it was like $390 before tip for 6 adults and 2 kids. Only 1 large bottle of sake, the rest was food. The beef wrap with onions and garlic was AMAZING! Definitely the star of the show. 10/10 I would order this again! The stir fry clams were also very good! Must have! We also got a Unagi Don, raw oysters, chicken wings, fried squid, Rib Eye, Ikura fried rice, and they also gave us complimentary salad, fruit, and ice cream!

This is good for the value. I chose $136 for 2 for 11 courses meal is pretty good in lower mainland. There are so many choices of menu from meat lover, vegetarian and seafood lovers. From $58 per person to $120 for wagu beef and foie gras. There’s no dramatic show but chef are nice and fun. We reserved the VIP room for 11 people. It’s always a good place to be for special occasion land chinese new year
